Registration is now taking place for the fall semester of MATC’s Certified Nursing Assistant class.  This 120-hour course runs from 4:30 to 9:30 pm three nights a week at 1250 Prairie Street in Prairie du Sac (lower level of Village Family Dental).

The course prepares students for employment as entry level nursing assistants in a healthcare facility where they will perform selected tasks supportive to nursing under the supervision of a licensed nurse.  The course is recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services as a nurse aide training program.  Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to test for the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry before employment in nursing homes, home health agencies, hospices, hospitals, community-based residential facilities, and homes for developmentally disabled.  Completing the program is a prerequisite for other nursing programs throughout the state.

Students enrolled in the course will first start out with classroom presentations, move on to lab sessions where skills are learned and practiced to prepare for the final portion of the class when they will experience real life practice in a clinical facility either long-term care and/or hospital care.
